Glad to see all our old pals here in one great place. Many congratulations for the new site, Greg!

My first post ...
This GH Lapwing shot was taken couple of days ago. The overhead light was far from ideal then, so I waited and waited hoping for the lapwing to look up and it finally did!!! And this is it.

EOS-10D + EF500/4L IS + EF2x II
Evaluative @ -1/3, ISO 200

Hope you enjoy viewing this as much as I was shooting it ...

Best

A rather unusual view of the bird. I like the different look.

Welcome KK! Our first member from the Asian continent. Sometimes patience pays! As you state, not the ideal lighting conditions but by being patient you made the best of the situation.

Very nice, KK, in far from ideal light. I particularly like the up-look, the feet seen through the water, and the disheveled feather. Fill might have helped smooth some shadows.

BTW, great to see you here.

Hi KK, Interesting bird. I like that the face is illuminated and that the water is clear enough to see his feet. Also like the upturned feather!

Hi KK and welcome! It's always interesting to see the different species that you post. This is another new bird for me. A mid tone adjustment might bring out a little blue tone in the water which would set off the bird more.

Glad to see you here....it's getting more like home every day. I think this is the first time that I've seen such a pose. It's very interesting and given the lighting it made it a good choice.

Hi KK
Cool red eye on this bird but my favorite part are the yellow feet in the water. Good to see you here..

Look up in the sky at all the birds coming this way !!!, all migrating to the shores of NatureScapes!!!
I was wondering myself how long it would take you to land in this place, as a bird you would have a lot of trouble migrating by yourself!!! :P
Welcome to NSN!!
Wonderful bird by the way!!!, in spite of what Sandy said!!! 8)
