(Adult Bald Eagle) Homer, Alaska

Someone earlier was talking about an "in your face" eagle image about one of my previous posts. This is what I would refer to that way.

Tripod mounted Nikon D100, 500mm F4.0 AFS, TC-14EII, ISO 200, Shutter Priority, 1/400 @ F8. Cropped to about 1/2 width and made 2:1.

This definitely qualifies for in your face! A great shot and I like the pano crop.

You're killing me with these eagles, Tony. Each one is excellent.

Wow, I love it! You can't get too close to one of these beautiful birds. Very well presented with the pano, too. :)

I can't take my eyes off this bird. The detail in this shot is incredible, then I remember that this is in flight.

Eagle man! This is great! Can't wait to get there. Please stop so I don't have to think about it.

What I like best about this shot is that I was able to push the shadow detail about 2/3 stops in post processing without losing the highlights. :D What I don't like about it is the D100 didn't quite keep up with the eagle while using the 700mm focal length. The head is slightly OOF which is being compensated for in post processing.

You gotta love digital. I can't wait for the new camera!

Another!! Holy smokes! I think the detail is good on the face; in curves, would add back some of the shadow points and pickily bring out the light, if possible, in the underwing areas. I think the image would look better with more range between the darkest and lightest pixels. 8)

Hi Tony,

Another great eagle shot! On my monitor it looks a little flat and I would guess that a bit of curves work might make it nice and crisp so it really pops. Of course my monitor isn't calibrated yet....

Anthony, what I really like with this image is that you get a feeling for the size of the eagle.

Fantastic shot!
