This is my personal favorite on several levels:

* The bird struck a great pose.
* I consider this one of "my" bluebirds. The shot is the result of planning out and constructing a trail of bluebird houses for which I have been rewarded with a number of years of being the surrogate "grandfather" to many broods of bluebirds (and many photo opportunities).
* It's quite possibly the sharpest photo I've ever taken. The feather detail in the original Velvia slide is incredible and amazes me every time I look at it.
* This photo and another were published in an Audubon calendar some years back making them my first “major” publication credits.

I can see why it was published. A beautiful image.

Greg, the BG and blooms make this setting a very nice image. A head turn towards the camera would be the only improvement.

Greg,

I love this image as is - head turn and all. This has everything you would want. I'll bet this looks like liquid candy on the light box. :)

Congratulations and thanks for sharing a favorite for the Motif!!

Gorgeous bird and image. I'm fine with the position of the head.

Lovely shot Greg. More head turned would make it even better but I would be more than happy with this shot.

Extemely painterly and artistic. Love the feathering view from the rear combined with the bird head to the side. I do not need all profiles; that gets boring. CONGRATS. :) :) :) :) :)

Greg, this is a wonderful image, and I do not need the head turned more than shown. However, the image as presented could use some help on the scanning/sharpening end. This will come.

Congrats on the sale!

Best,

Chas

My only wish on this shot is for a little more head turn to the camera. Great perch and BG.
