This is one of my favorite blue heron shots which I took last summer on the shores of the Manatee River & Tampa Bay in Bradenton, Florida...near the DeSoto National Monument. This was during the week last year where we had horrible flooding and I had spent the first couple of days of my vacation in a hotel room keeping dry. This was taken late in the afternoon after the rains finally ended.

Canon Elan7e w/Canon 75-300 USM IS w/Tiffen 812; exposure unrecorded; Superia 200.

Very nice image. The stylized coloring gives it an artsy look. I can see why it would be a favorite. :)

Great alternative colors, and nice, clear shot with no distractions.

I have always wondered at the bare "knuckles" (wrists?) these birds often have.
