American Bittern (Botaurus lentiginosus)

Same bittern that captured this incredible crawfish. We watched this guy for an hour hunting and our patience was greatly rewarded. I wish he was looking a little more into the camera, but as soon as he got the crayfish he just turned away from us.

Comments appreciated!

Nice catch! I enjoyed meeting you at the BBSP outing, as well as watching and photographing this bird. Unfortunately, most of my "action" shots have the bird turned further away from me. The size of the crayfish still amazes me. . .

Regards, Mike

Great shot!

It was great meeting you at the Friday night dinner last weekend. Too bad I couldn't shoot with y'all, however.

Very nice, Juan.

You guys must have watched a different feeding sequence than I did. I thought the crawfish I shot was pretty good sized, but he sure wasn't lobster sized.

Enjoyed meeting you and trying to follow you down 59. :D (I know when I'm out of my league driving in Houston traffic.)

Juan, beside the great subject and amazing Crawdad, the exposure and saturation on this is great.

I enjoyed our time together this weekend. Glad to finally meet you.
