Bald Eagle (female) bringing Spanish Moss to Nest

D1x, 600f4, horizontal cropped from sides.

I have learned much about my neighborhood eagles since I first posted this image 4 months ago. This pair of eagles has successfully fledged 2 chicks for each of the last 5 years. The timing has been remarkably consistent: female lays eggs during the last 10 days of December, eggs are incubated by both parents for about 5 weeks, first flight occurs after 10-12 weeks. In a few days I will be posting a recent image of this eagle family. Comments/critiques welcome.

great capture and great commentary. They recently discovered a bald eagle's nest down here in Miami in a development. The eagles caused the construction to cease temporarily. :P

It's amazing to think that Bald Eagles have a stronger sense of family than most humans....

I look forward to seeing more posts.

I remember this series and I'm still jealous. :D

I look forward to seeing how they are doing now. Thanks for sharing these.

This is really neat. I like the bird's about to land position. Overall I do think this looks a little dark or possibly over-saturated.

Jerry, a wonderful shot of an eagle and its nest. I might like the shadows opened a slight bit (which would also lighten the sky).
