Hello everyone. I've just joined the forum and really enjoy viewing the photo posts. I would like to share my first flight photo with my new 400 5.6L lens. It was unbelieveably cold on Sunday with -15 C with 50 km/hr winds off Lake Ontario. This great looking swan struggled gracefully flying against the howling winds, skimming the water. Your comments much appreciated.

Steve.

Welcome Steve, I'm fairly new to NSN and it's proving to be a very good experience. This place is filled with new ideas and different ways to do things! The critiques are a bonus, although sometimes we may not feel that way, but you do learn from them.

Your image is so wonderful. Birds in flight are my next challenge. You did this one beautifully! I look forward to seeing more.

Nice first post Steve! Some of the whites look a little hot but I love the pose and the Swan eye contact. I think you could safely crop some of the negative space from the top of the image to give a tighter shot with greater impact.

Nice work and look forward to seeing more from you! 8)

Hey Steve, great capture; I've tried these flight shots on the Lake, not easy.

You should try LaSalle Park in Burlington, Trumpeters in groups, some neat shots can be made. Also East & West Humber (Etobicoke) at this time.
