Ever since I bought the 10D I have been patiently awaiting the return of my personal favorite bird species. Well, a pair of them arrived within the past week or two. This is one of my personal favorite shots from that shooting session.

10D, 600/4 IS, tripod, Eval @ -2/3, Av @ f8, SS 1/800, ISO 200

Comments and critiques are always welcome. Thanks for looking. :)

Easy to see why this is a personal favorite, Bill. Not only a delicate and beautiful bird but your image has many pluses IMO. For example, the raised leg and the small bead of water on the bill, tact sharp, exposure on target, composition and background. The low, eye level, angle, yet another plus. Well done.

Fine details everywhere in the bird including the back white feathers plus the birds movement makes this a much better image than excellent. :D :D :D

Bill, technical and compostional perfection in many ways! The background is especially superb and compliments the bird.

Bill,

This is outstanding. Love the leg lift and the water drop on the bill. Keep the Avocets coming.
