I used up my "favorite" photo a couple of weeks ago when I posted the nesting osprey. Still, there are a few close runner-ups.
Apart from the relatively exotic subject, this remains among my favorite images owing to the context in which this display was experienced. Visiting the Galapagos Islands is a highlight of any naturalist's life. This male was photographed strutting his stuff on N. Seymour Island. Nikon F3, Nikkor 200mm F4 macro at 1/500 @ 5.6 on E100SW, handheld. Minolta incident light meter. Peace, and may the light be with you. Gustav Gustav W. Verderber is considered by "Vermont Magazine" to be one of Vermont's premier nature photographers.
His guide to "Photographing Yellowstone" is available from Countryman Press. View current tour and workshop itineraries at http://WWW.SOJOURNSINNATURE.COM. |
