Tufted Duck
EOS3, 500 F4L IS + 1.4xTC, Provia, full frame.

I'd been watching this guy dive around in front of the hide for some time, just getting to know the signs that he was about to dive. It only took a few frames before I caught it just right, although I didn't know that at the time ;)

Comments welcome and thanks for looking.
Dave

Dave, I remember this from way back. What a capture. The softness gives it a sense of movement. The open eye just before entering the water is incredible. Love the water.

Not easy to capture. I've watched Ring-necked Duck and Scaup and they seem to flatten their head feathers just before diving. Lots of fun to look at.

What a cool shot! Perhaps a touch tight, but all else in this works for me - the composition, motion blur, etc. Caught at a great moment, well done.

Great catch with this one. I've tried that shot before.....but with no success. Your timing was excellent here....and the eye is still open.
