The Osprey were fishing like crazy all day, but this was the only one that flew my way after the catch.

Welcome to NSN, Dan. Great composition and catch of the action. On my monitor this looks a bit overexposed. Based on the OOF background (chain link fence) this looks like where Chas conducts his Osprey IPT's on Long Island.

Dan, this is killer with the bird coming right at you! I agree it's a bit bright. If this is how the original is, and you were shooting in RAW, then try a combined conversion to save the highlights. There is an article here explaining this process:

Thanks for sharing I am looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks for the input.. I'm trying to find the right combination of tonal adjustments to get the images to look right from the laptop. Needless to say, I'm going bald pulling my hair out!! Any suggestions??

I reposted it a little darker.

Dan,

Nice one and they are really hard to get. Great angle on the wings.

Along with Greg's suggestion, I'd suggest turning off all the sharpening and selectively sharpening the bird after you get it into photoshop. That should reduce some of the noise in the background.
Great action!

Dan, welcome.

This has great potential in PS. Love the angle of the bird and the water spray.

Nice catch both for you and the osprey. Greg's and Tony's suggestions are very good. Might also consider posting from a desktop rather than a laptop. While I love my laptop, I find it very tough to get the brightness consistently correct there.

Hi, Dan!

This is a nice head on look of an osprey with its prize! I would second the recommendations not to rely too heavily on a laptop screen (unless you have one of those really good ones) and to give the conversion technique a try. It takes a few tries to get the curves right after adjusting opacity, but it's fun to see the possibilities.
