I don't have very many pics of this motif, but I thought this one was OK. I wish the branch running in front of the bird was a broken snag and of course front lighting would have been better. But the wingspread is nice.

You actually got very good detail and a great pose on the bird. If the background was a darker blue, you wouldn't mind the snag as much. It's really not that bad. :D

Hi Rob. I do like the wing spread and the position of the bird. I have to agree with Anthony on the darker background. You must have pretty close to shoot this with a 400mm lens! All of my shots with the same focal length are mere specs in the frame.

Sharpness and action are great. Only way to get detail in the underwing is to let the sky go a little light, and while I would like a darker sky, IMO the underwing detail is more important. Tough break on the branch.

I think this is a cool perspective, seeing underneath the bird while coming in to land on the branch. I especially like images that demonstrate the grace of birds in flight, and this is one of them.
