Yes, this is a bit cluttered. I thought about cropping out some of the bottom vegetation, but that was the only thing that gave any indication that this was near water. I couldn't have gotten any closer because of that water.

Very good technicals. Possibly a bit too much environment and too little bird. You might consider a bottom crop to the tree limb and doing this a a horizontal.

Nice composition, I believe the image could be improved if you give a Gaussian blur to the background and an increase in luminosity of the subject using curves. Thanks for posting.

One of these days you're going to come up on one of these while you in your boat that's going to fill the frame. Just be prepared when it happens. :wink:
This might have worked better stopped down a bit more so that more things were in solid focus.

I have, in the past, undervalued environmental shots and wish I had more. The big thing to me is that there be no major distractions, perhaps the tiny bit of tree in the upper right corner and maybe the yellow spots on the leaves at the bottom. In my opinion omitting these elements with a crop make this a pretty good habitat shot!
