This shot was taken on the bay side of Mustang Island State Park near Corpus Christi, TX. Once again, the light was fantastic. It really gave everything a very rich appearance. I have had a little difficulty with my posts being a little more pale and a little less saturated than my JPG, so I boosted the saturation on this one just a tad. Hope I didn't overdo it.

1D with 600 and 1.4X TC, AV - 1/3 (ISO 400, f11, 1/500), fill flash with BB at - 1 2/3.

Thanks for looking. I really do appreciate your comments. Using the suggestions in all the comments posted here on NSN really helps.

Wow...did you ever have the light. I'm experiencing the same problem with my posts. The jpg looks fine but the post is too light. If I make the jpg a little "gaudy" it seems to work. Go figure.

This is another wonderful image. I thought I liked ducks but I learned quickly how much I like the shorebirds...just wish I were closer. Excellent job with this one.

Great light and really nice image. I'm not sure why the great sharpness isn't carried up the neck. Probably not motion and shouldn't be DOF so selective USM may be all it needs. Still a gorgeous image.

The light is fantastic!! I love the pose. These birds are so cool.

Steve saw what I saw. I agree that selective sharpening should do the trick. :)

It all looks good to me, Bruce.

No complaints about anything, except maybe a bit more room on the bottom for where the legs woud be underwater.

Steve Sage mentioned that the neck was not sharp. Thanks for the tip, Steve. I never even noticed it. For the repost I used the sharpening tool sparingly in the neck area.

This is a great shot. My only wish it that you had taken off the 1.4x so that the unseen extension of the feet below the water would not be cropped. Otherwise a great shot of a super cool bird.

Bruce,

You inspired me to get down to the coast yesterday. I got ran out by mosquitos. The worst I have ever seen in my life. Are you having this problem down there?

Great photo in great light. Love the alert posture.

Bruce:

To recover the saturated punch that is sometimes lost on the web posting I use digital velviaPS action from Fred Miranda. This picture is very nice, so sharp and the colors are great on that morning sweet light.
On another subject: Ruby throat hummingbirds at Rockport this weekend?? if you help me to put up the set up , you can use all the 6 flashes.

Gorgeous, Bruce. I have no preference between the two versions. I usually am a stickler for virtual feet, but not on this image. It is great as is.

Seems a bit tight to me but I like the exposure and the color saturation. Good work overall.

Wow! I like the repost. The light is fantastic and I love the pose of the bird. The one bright spot on the leg may or may not be over, but it is the brightest area and gets a little bit of my attention.

I know it's usually best to leave room for "virtual feet" but this shot works for me as is in that regard. The swirls in the water depict the bird had been in motion which is kind of cool, and of course the rest of the water is beautifully smooth.
