Taken last weekend near the same spot as the Yellowlegs were taken. I went there specifically at dawn to make sure I arrived before the liftoff of American Pelicans that were loafing on the small ponds. This was one of the more dramatic shots taken right after the sun rose. The sky was a nice pinkish purple hue and is reflected in the background of the image.

Edit: 8/21/2003 9:30pm - Redid post-processing to remove halo from oversharpening.

Wonderful light, wonderful bird, lovely wingspread, very nice in-frame , and pretty good detail, Exposure a tad over the edge (overlooked) and there is a bit of a halo from USM around the bird, Minor nits aside, this is some sweet image !!! Congrats!!! 8)

Chris,

Wonderful image! The composition and wing position is excellent. I also see a halo around the bird due to USM. Nice image!

Very nice, Chris. Wonderful light. I kind of feel there's a bit too much magenta or cyan, but I cannot prove it. The fairly sizable halo under the bird suggests significant oversharpening. If you redid your post-production, you'd have a terrific image.
