Well this is a little different from me. I'm curious if this image works, I was having a hard time separating this guy from the other ducks, so I couldn't get a clean image so I thought I'd go in for a closeup.

Wow! I really like this shot Richard. I think it looks very intimate and the intricate detail of the feathers near the bill is just wonderful. It certainly works well for me and would love to have a shot like this of my own. Unfortunately my widgeon collection is currently at zero

This is a great shot. If you burn in the area behind the head it will be even better...my eye keeps going to the lighter area behind the head.
Thanks for sharing.

I love the pose. The colors look oversaturated and it would have been nice to have had more DOF. The very OOF body on the right is distracting for me, so I would crop it from the right which, I think, makes it even more intimate.

Richard, I agree with RichardM on the right side of the image, but aside from that the shot is fabulous.

Great to see you here. I've admired your talent and eye.

Thanks for posting this beauty. I've never been close enough to EW to see the closeup detail even with binos. Very nice.

Richard, this is great! It definitely works for me, the colors, the background, the patterns in the bird...combined with the prominent eye, just fantastic! Very creative.

Nice colors. :!: I agree with the possible crop from the right. Maybe if you had stopped down a little, more of the shoulder area might have ended up in focus and that area would add a little more for me. :?
Still very nice as it is. :)

Sheez, Richard, why didn't you get close? :D I LOVE the colors; might have tried for more dof but from a little distance, the image overall works for me.

What a beautiful image Richard! I agree about a slight crop from the right to make it even more intimate.
