I hope that I have this Motif thing right.
This is one of the first images that I shot with my now defunct Canon 10d.
It took this bird about 20 minutes to get this catfish down and I was thrilled to be shooting digital as I shot a ton of images during that time.

That's a pretty big fish and the Heron looks darn proud of himself. Very nice photo.

Wow, that IS a big fish! Nice one! You did everything right except you put it in the wrong forum. I am moving it from Photo Topics to Birds :)

Richard....

By the sound of things this Night Heron wasn't able to gulp down that catfish like the Eagles did the Hering in Homer.

Great capture!

Looks like you got it right, I'm getting my motif post ready myself.

Really nice with the surrounding greenery and eyes so prominent, especially the one on the fish. With the dirt on the fish looks like the bird had to fight to keep it!

Richard,

Great shot. That is one heck of a big fish for that bird. I really like the tight comp and the detail in both the bird and the fish is excellent.

Richard,

This is so cool. 8) The Night Heron looks like he is sneering. I'll bet this was fun to watch. :)

I'm really surprized at the size of fish some of these birds tackle. What happened to your 10 D Richard?

Thanks for everyone's concern about my 10d. For those that don't know I dropped it in a fall and it was totalled. I've been without a digital body for 2 months now, but my insurance company just told me that I should be receiving a replacement in 2 days.
It could be worse...I could be living in Iraq

Hi Richard,
Absolutely wonderful. The heron really looks angry. Maybe he's thinking about those barbs on the fish sticking his insides.
