This is another image shot on an Arthur Morris/Birds-as-Art IPT at JBWR. This bird flew into the south east corner of the East Pond, and it initially was too far away for me. Since I knew that these birds are very skittish, I made sure I approached slowly and carefully so that the bird would be a bit larger in the frame without scaring it away; I then oriented myself so that the sun was directly behind me (you know, "Point your shadow at the bird!!!"). When the bird started preening I knew that I my approach was successful as I did not make it weary. I then relaxed as well, settled my face into the mud and shot several images. When it finished preening it stretched its wings and the I shot this image. Boy what fun this was.

EOS3, 500f/4LIS, 2XTCII, 25MM of Extension, Walt Anderson Ground Pod, Evaluative metering at +1/3.

Please comment on any aspect of this image. Thanks.

This is a great image of a cool bird! I have spent many hours trying to get an image similar to this, so I know how tough it can be. This is better than anything I have. Way to go!

Lovely image, Christoph. Your low angle makes him even more impressive.

This is a very cool shot of a bird I'd be happy to get a simple pose shot of! The composition is great, and the exposure is good - while some minor highlights are on the bright side, it netted you the rich colors in its darker plumage - well done! Definitely a shot to be proud of. :)

I love it. The action and the low angle make this one for me. Thanks for sharing. This was well worth the muck you had to crawl through.

Beatiful glossy ibis shot. I really like the pose. I would have preferred for the legs to be a little sharper, but it's a terrific image!

Christoph,

I would have a heart attack if I saw this in the view finder. Great shot and great work ethic. I do wish for a little more detail in the darks.

AWESOME!  I got a shot like this at JB a few weeks ago, but he was turned the wrong way. :x This is a really superb. The detail and color in the bird is awesome and the BG is classic JB.

Christoph,

Wow!. Great low angle and beautiful colors. Glad you gave him the room for the wing stretch.
