Boat-tailed Grackle

Just a shiny, black bird on a stick. Taken last week on the upper Texas coast. All comments welcome and thanks for looking.

Canon 10D; 500mm IS; 1.4x TC II; window mount with Sidekick.

I like the shiny black bird against the white background. The glossy feathers add a nice element to the image. :)

Nice! These are tough to get a good exposure, but when you can, as you did, you get the colors from the shiny black feathers. Well done!

Beautiful grackle shot, Wayne. Because high key is not my favorite, I'd darken the BG if it were mine.

That's a very effective composition that shows off the bird well. I generally like high-key images but maybe make this one just slightly less white? It's just a thought . . . I do not have a strong opinion.

I will probably follow the suggestion on Sandy and yourself, as I also think the sky is a little too white. I'll give it a shot.
