All,

This was taken in November of 2002 when I was just starting to learn how to use a DSLR. It was with my old Nikon D100 and a 300mm f/4 Nikon lens, no flash. I don't remember the specifics, I just know this was taken at Yanacocha, and is a guaranteed subject at that location and incredibly easy to photograph. If you are bored of the US birds and want to try something a bit more exotic with at least 20-25 hummingbirds being almost guaranteed subjects for starters, send me an email on here to find out more.

Cheers,
Chris Fagyal

Very nice portrait. The perch is a bit distracting, the way it runs up in front of the bird.

Chris,

I love the electric colors of this guy. Nice sharpness and detail. Maybe a little tight on the left. :D

I'm thoroughly awed! Nice job of getting a "telephoto macro"! I loved seeing all the little individual feathers, and the colors on this bird are amazing! The perch is a tiny bit distracting, even though it doesn't really block the view of the bird. I know the "rules" say leave more room in front of the animal, but I like this framing. Makes me feel it's about to flit away. Well done!

Wow this is gorgeous!
The bright white patch bothers me more than the perch, but both are just nits.

Great details in this shot. My only nit is the hot whites under the bird, they kind of draw my eye in. Cute hummer shot.
