Great Horned Owl shot at San Diego's Wild Animal Park. EOS 1Ds, 100-400 with 1.4x converter (actual 560mm), ISO 400, 1/100 at f8.

This head shot really emphasizes the eyes. I'm really not sure how it fits the motif though.

Thanks Steve for pointing that out. For some reason I had it in my mind that eyes was the weeks motif...I guesss I've been working too late this week ;-)

Beautiful animal with expressive eyes. I think the image would appear even better with a tiny bit of contrast adjustment and sharpening.
