Of the 4 days I was there, we were fortunate to have 2 days of much sun. On this RAW image I used Nikon Capture 4's DEE function to open up the shadows. Similar to PS/CS's new shadow/highlight tool. I feel I have a lot to learn about these 2 tools but they are great.

Very god image Len got enough detail on the bottom of the wings, tucked legs look great and the intensity of its look sets everything off. Good going.

PS I think I ran into you last year at Venice?

Cool shot. 8) I like the close view and don't mind the clipped wings, but I wish the tail wasn't slightly clipped.

Nice face-to-face shot. A little close on the tail but still very well done!!

Len, this is a well composed image. At times Capture 4, and the shadow/highlight tool in PS induces a bit of a color cast when opening up areas of density. As you are color impaired in the red/green
spectrum  I am sure you did not notice it with this image.

With your permission I am reposting the image without the induced cast.

I was mentally penning a post to you that would include the cast when I got to Chas re-post so once is enough. I just tried out the shadow/highlight filter today for the first time and see it can easlly be overdone. I really like this image and appreciate seeing the detail in this huge bird.

Great shot Len. I wasn't as lucky to get the beautiful light that you did here. Nice flight shot.

One of the nicest clipped, in-flight closeups I've seen, enhanced by the strong diagonal. Tail doesn't bother me at all.
