I had Golden-Fronted Woodpeckers coming to a feeder near bye. I just set up the cactus with the sun behind me and the BG of choice behind the perch. I then attached a small slice of orange on the other side of the cactus. The Woodpeckers favorite food.

Hmmm, placed and baited perch - is this any more or less wild than the notorious Homer eagles or does it just prove that you have to work at your craft ? Seriously though, lovely image and I think the lighting is great, partly because of the shadows from the cactus spines.

That spike entering his abdomen isn't holding him in place is it :wink: ?

I've never been there, but this may be the best image I've seen from Roma. The perch and green background are outstanding. Was the cactus potted?
