This was taken a few days ago at LaSalle Park in Ontario. I've seen a few redheads posted from that location, so I figured i would post one of my better shots from the two days I was there.

I was lucky to get a calm day, but unlucky because I had heavy overcast. The dark conditions seemed to bring out a deeper red in their heads compared to what I usually see. It was a fun few days watching the males call and display to a few females. Another highlight was a Lesser Scaup that seemed to enjoy biting the tails of Mute Swans with there heads underwater.

Taken with a 10D, 100-400mm. @ 400mm. F-5.6, 1/250. ISO-400. (and I actually used my tripod this time, not Handheld). AND! one of the few Times I used my flash, but I'm still getting used to it. :D

Good Birding

This is wonderful, Brandon!! The silvery water makes a great background for this guy. :)

I agree, the high key background really sets off the red head. Wonderful detail, right down to the drops of water under the eye. Good job Brandon.

A nice Red head Brandon, perhaps a bit more flash to lighten the head and breast.

Sweet shot Brandon. Love the light on the cheek, really shows the shape of the head. Well done.

Gorgeous colors, Brandon. Would consider a crop on the left and selective sharpening of the eye.

I think a little more sharpening would be good but this is very nice as is. :)
