Northen Gannet (Morus bassanus)

This magnificent bird would hover in that little outcrop as the winds gusts of 60+ MPH blasted the sandstone cliffs at Helgoland-Northern Germany, it was some sort of play, he just would hover a bit forward and then backward , just a few feet between landing spots, I suspect he was having fun!!!
No technical available since they are inside of 40+ Cd's from that trip and at present don't have the time to look for them!!!
Just let me get away with it this time !!!
Any comments and or reposts are always welcome!!!

Jim's right....great memories of these beautiful birds. Excellent job working with the whites in the light. The "in air" action is great...as is the story of his play. As always....a wonderful image.

:D :D :D Very beautiful Alex. The white bird and the mixture of browns of the rock stand very well with the blue BG. An excellent image overall.

You have a pile of exceptional gannet images and this is no exception. Like the lines of the wings and the little feet so in need of orthopedic oxfords.

This is just about perfect Alex! The anticipating landing lends a nice sense of tension to this image. :)

A very playful image. If I was a bird, I might do this all day.

Alex,

This is fabulous. Love the wing spread, the raised tail, and the view of the landing gear.
