This fellow was at the far side of the hippo pool and we could not position the vehicle any closer or at a better light angle. Taken the last morning in Tanzania.

10D, 600IS, 1.4x, ISO 200, cropped from the right. about 20 % and all about by 5%.

What a cool looking bird. I've never seen one of these before. Excellent shot. I love the wing canopy. :)

Nice shot Jim. The light is a little harsh and I would cut the reflection off.

Jim,
This is a great shot. You mentioned the conditions were the best but I think you did a wonderful job of a very cool bird. The wing spread is nice.

Dramatic image that really pops (gorgeous highlight and shadow points)! Agree about cutting the reflection.

You nailed it Jim. What a magnificent bird. Any one of us would be happy to have this one. I have seen these guys at the SD Zoo and its nice to see one free and unaltered(wings that is).

Beautiful shot, Jim. Neat looking bird. I would crop from the bottom to just below the foliage line. For me the reflection is not strong enough to carry the space below.

Jim, A nifty bird which you captured very well !!! Adore the beak colors and wonderful wings. I agree that the bird stands alone and is best without the reflection. Terrific shot!!! Love the latest avatar also !!! 8) 8)
