Jimmy,

So this is what they look like. Nice one and one small nit, you might take out that twig on the right.

It's a piece of sea weed and I like it is a beach after all.

Jimmy, Lovely image. I'm impressed by just how quickly he's lost the breeding plummage.

This is an exceedingly nice and simple image, Jimmy!
BTW, do you find the images rather soft and require a fair amount of usm to 'restore it' when taken with your setup viz 10D + 500/4 IS + 2x ?

Out of curiosity, how were you able to positively ID this as a Pacific Golden Plover? This is way out of their migration path by a quarter of the planet. Are you sure it isn't an American golden Plover?

Regardless its an excellent photo.

Back later - I found it on the NY listserv - this is the first ever Pacific Golden Plover in NY.

    1/2  I would also clone out the thing in the sand on the right. Aside from that it would be a 5

Being a juvenile, it hasn't actually lost breeding plumage :).

Jimmy, great photo, and I wouldn't mess with the seaweed.

To tell you the truth, given the long primary extension, I wouldn't have considered this a Pacific Golden Plover.

Whatever bird it might be, I love the alert pose and look in its eye. With a beautiful sand beach and blue background, what a great shot!
