(Ring-billed Gull) Ridgefield, New Jersey

The real reason I want to go back to Homer an shoot more Eagles is at least I'll know what I'm shooting. The only think I'm sure of on this shot is that it is not a bald eagle. And that this was one of the first images I took with the 70-200 VR with the TC-14EII.

The things I'm not sure of is whether this was over flashed or not. Not likely given the aperture but that might explain the detail. Whether this is really a Ring-billed Gull. This was taken in the middle of April before the weather really started getting wet. And whether this crop is good for the bird and the image.

Handheld Nikon D1H, 70-200mm F2.8 VR, TC-14EII, SB-80DX, BB, rear, ISO 200, Shutter Priority, 1/500, F10 @ 220mm. Rotated slightly clockwise and cropped to 80% original width.

Like the crop; flash looks OK (not un-natural). A Ring-billed Gull in first winter plumage. Nice work.

It may not be an eagle, but it is nicely done.

The flash is fine for me It brings out the detail on the underside.

Baby eagle maybe?

Love the detail on the underwing, the tilt of the head, and the light through the wings. I would like a tad less flash on the body.

I don't know, Tony. This could be a 2-3 year old juvenile baldie. Now if he just had a fish in his talons we would know for sure!

Very nice and the pano crop works well.

Maybe a touch tight in the frame (although for web posting I crop pretty tight, too) but not too much flash in my opinion. This is nicely lit with lots of details, caught at a really nice moment in flight.

Tony,

Not an Eagle, but a sweet image just the same. I don't think it's over flashed at all, wonderful detail from wing tip to wing tip. Very Nice! :)
