I am fortunate to have these beautiful birds in my backyard. This image is a little over a year old but I keep re-scanning it hoping that my scanning & PS skills have improved enough to bring out the detail in the whites and blacks that are in the slide. Still have a ways to go!

F5, 600mm f/4, TC-14E, Gitzo, BH-1, Provia 100F

All comments greatly appreciated. Thanks

Gorgeous! Great scan too! The lighting here is wonderful as is the bird and the composition. The background is to die for! The only nit is maybe a slight head turn and a touch more DOF, but this is killer as is!

Congrats!

Scan looks great to me. And the shot is great; color and detail is marvelous. If the DOF bothers you, feel free to toss the slide in my waste basket. :)

This is, IMO, one of the nicest images of a Gambel's Quail that I have seen. It's up off of the ground, the lighting is nice, and the colors work together nery well. Great scan, too. Couldn't ask for much more.

Very, very nice!!

A remarkable image, Alan. Nearly perfect. A touch more DOF is all that is missing.

Wow Alan, this ios one of the best Gambel's Quail shots I've seen. You really have a great collection of these guys. The scan and processing look flawless to me.

Alan, I love it when someone takes full advantage of their backyard as you have done here. The BG and perch are great. The bird is perfect. I would crop up to remove some of the OOF branch.
