Well after looking around at all the wonderful images here it's time to say hello and post one. This was taken last Saturday at 8:30am at Jamaica Bay on Long Island on my second visit ever there. A few days before was my first visit to that site after drooling over images from there for some time. In the two days I was there it was a who's who of the Photography world. Chas, Art Morris, Jim Zipp and some of the Long Island, New York and Connecticut folks. I made up the who's he portion of the photographers!

Anyway, getting down in the mud was interesting and rewarding at the same time. When I got home I just couldn't wait to see what I got and low and behold I got a few even I like! I've been posting some at Deb's site but this one has never been posted. Not even sure what it is but I think it's a cute little guy, hope you do as well.

Nikon D100, 500mm AF-S, x1.4, ISO 200, F5.6, 1/640, Ground Pod, Sidekick, Full Frame.

Wow is this wonderful George. Sharp, nice angle, wonderful water, the water droplet on the bill is great too. I have no nits, just praise.

By the way, this looks like a Semipalmated Sandpiper to me.

George,

This image was worth the mud and having to put up with the other photographers. Good job.

George,

This is great. Very sharp and well exposed. Love the water on the bill. I would get muddy every day of the week for an image like this.

Hey George, It's hard to find anything wrong here! The raised foot, catchlight and smooth background all work together in this image. By the way, I wanted to come over and say hi but you were laying down and buried pretty well in the mud and I didn't want to flush your birds so I only waved :D ! Nice shot.

WOW! Sharp and wonderful green water! The lifted leg and waterdrop on the bill put this over the top for me. Did I mention it was sharp? :) Very well done.

George,

Welcome to NSN. Awesome first post. The raised foot and the water droplet at the end of the bill really make this a wonderful shot.

If I had to find any nits, they would be the OOF light objects (Birds?) in the BG and a slight headturn towards the camera would put this over the top. Very sweet image.

A gorgeous first post here, George!

I find the reflection distracting. A crop of about 1/6 from the bottom frame may work to your advantage ...

Great to see you posting here George. I love the sharpness and detail in this one. A slight CW rotation would improve this.

A wonderful debut here, George. Sharp as a tack and well composed. Exposure nailed. The water is to die for. What else can I say?

What a great shot. So...you got to wallow in the mud with the best of the best!! I'll wallow, sit, or crawl in the mud for all the shots I could get like this one. Glad to see you here.

All you need is a very slight head turn but even without it, this image is stunning. A minor nit would be the lighter OOF elements in the background. Nice detail on the bird and I love the foot raised.
