I have taken the suggestions that were made, cropped off the top and off the right, and I applied levels and curves to bring out some more detail, since some of it got lost in the scanning process. Please compare this image to http://www.naturescapes.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=1014 and let me know what you think. Thanks.

Liked the first but like this one even more. Composition is stronger and the beak and eye ring stand out much more here. Don't know if you've got detail in the white in the original right around the neck ring, but with the black and white right next to each other, getting detail in each is tough.

Christoph, I like your framing here slightly more than in the first post.

Agreed, compositionally this one seems to work better. Good follow up!

You really were close to this guy. I think this is an improvement over the first one.

I think I like this one better, too.

It's very well done. My first thought on seeing this one was "I like this".

I liked your first post, and I like this one as well. I love the eyering. You don't get to see such detail on the eye in plovers very often.

I prefer this one. Cloning out the dust would help too.

I think this is a much better presentation. You did pick up a bit of dust and noise in the blue background that could be removed with a bit of cloning and blurring.
