Bruce Sherman and myself were getting a kick out of the feeding antics of the Reddish Egret. Shot in Mustang Island State Park near Corpus Christi.

Reddish Egrets are among the funnest birds to watch. You captured the way they live well here.

Pete,
Very nice catch of the action! This guy looks like he's tip-toeing. I would be tempted to try to tone down the bright yellow/green in the upper BG.

A good timing shot, Pete!
I'd like to see a bit more room ahead of the bird ...

Nicely captured from the intense look of the bird to the little splash of water from the moving foot. Running with outstretched wings is pretty comical behavior and you've a good sense of that from the shot. Also wish for a little more room in front, perhaps even a horizontal?

I'm posting from a laptop for the time being and consequently having trouble with determining whether a shot is over or under sharpened, or color is properly corrected.
I could get an LCD calibration device, but I think I'll get a CRT to assess the image quality as soon as I return from some business trips. A couple of friends of mine have some calibration devices/ software that I can borrow to calibrate the CRT.

Thanks, I appreciate the comments, they help me to judge whats going on on my computer as well as image composition etc.

Regards,
Pete

Crazy bird! Very draculika. (I just made that up.) Wish you had a little more SS to stop the action in the wings and bring about a more definite line there. OTOH, a contrast adjustment might pop that a bit.

Well done, Pete.

The action is nicely captured. Looks like he/she is dancing. :D

I like it, the "dance" is fun to see and photograph. If the background got toned down a little I think it would be even stronger.

I think I might have preferred this on as a landscape with more room in front of the bird. Tough to tell though. This is still very nice.
