This Bobwhite was posing on a fence post in early morning light. I usually see them on the ground. This is the only time I've seen them on top of something.

Jim,

Love the pose, the ruffeled feathers and the background. I also like the old weathered stump. Great job on the whites.

Good technicals and pose. I'm a fan of negative space generally and I'd like to see just a bit more space frame left.

Jim,

This is a fine image all around. The whites look really well exposed and the detail all around is very sharp. I've never seen a bobwhite yet, let alone seen (or heard of one) above the ground on a post like this. This is a really fine capture.

It's not a bird I've seen either, and upon first looking at the image it was like a puzzle to me. The head is facing one way, the feet the other...

The colors are rich and I like the perch. If I could get more space, I would probably like it above the bird, but certainly works as is. :)

Awesome Bob Jim! I like the angle of the lighting and the creamy BG. Wish it were mine!

Jim,
Wonderful shot. The weathered post and the ruffled look add a lot.

I don't know that I have seen one of these or not. I always love images of birds while they are preening. It is a very strong indication that they are comfortable with our presence.

This is really nice, Jim. :)

Scraggle-taggle little turkey (yes, I know it's a bob-white  ) and I think it's great! I like the light, the sharpness and the pose.

No nits here for a bird I have never seen.

I'm partial to shots like these. Paused while preening, catchlight, sidelit bird and a clean bg. Strong image.

Slightly more room on the right but that's a minor, minor nit. Wonderful detail in all those feathers. :)
