It's been a while since I've posted anything here. The beginning of the semester plays havoc with my schedule. Here's a semi-recycled photo, but with a few adjustments and a newer crop.

Quiet Time
Image
10D, 1-4IS @ 400mm, handheld, 420EX
1/125
f5.6
Exp -1
ISO 100
Flash -2

Cloned out a bit of the flash highlight in the eye, a vertical 8*10 crop from horizontal (nearly full height), USM and a touch of contrast/saturtion after web-sizing.

cheers,
-matt

A comment like that from E.J. is high praise and well deserved. Beautiful image. :D

This is a winner. A beautifully graceful pose complemented by the arched branch and good technicals puts this over the top.

Matt, this is totaly awesome.

I think a little off the left would make it stronger.

This is really great Matt, a quiet feel to it all the way around. Great light, perfect exposure, sharp and interesting perch. Great going..

Well done! A very nice image although I agree with Alan that cropping the left side would make it even stronger. Wish it were mine!

Can't disagree with E.J.'s assessment!

And any bird shot that starts "Introspective ..." certainly grabs my attention - and this one is quite appropriately titled.

Matt,
I agree with EJ about this being the best barn swallow shot I have seen. Very well done.

I'm in total agreement of the above praise. I really like the curved perch.

Very nice juvenile Barn Swallow. That 100-400 is such a versatile lens.

Best wishes
