This little guy really looks proud of himself. I found him (her?) on the beach at Padre Island here in Corpus Christi, TX recently. This is one of the few shots where the BG and/or FG was not cluttered.

1D with 600 and 1.4X TC, AV -2/3 (ISO 200, 1/1,000, f11), groundpod.

Thanks for looking. All comments appreciated.

Oh Bruce! I love this intimate portrait. The low angle really makes this along with the great deatail and beautiful BG. One of my favorites of your images. Well done.

The wedge of mud (?) adds a lot to this IMO. Nice one.

A most pleasing image; I really like the plumage detail that you have captured here. Nice work.

Very, very nice. The sliver of sand? really helps to anchor the composition.

Intimate portrait of this little one. I agree that the wedge of sand below the bird helps the image a lot. Without it the bird would be floating in the water.

Very nice. I think it would work with or without the spit of sand.

Lots of character tucked into such a little package. The eye has it for me. What a lovely BG too. Very nice.
