Taken the same morning at Jamaica Bay as my Black Swan image. I just had enough of rain and flat light and decided to go home.. while walking out, I noticed one bird with a funny feeding pattern... this is a thrill to me, since I've never seen such a bird up until now, I even forgot that I was at ISO 800..

10D ISO 800 f8 1/320 600mm + 1.4x flash -1 (w plastic bag over) slight crop from bottom and right.. couldn't decide if I should make this lighter or not, I think this is the accurate tone what I've seen.

Comments welcome..

I love the angle. To me it appears to be a little overexposed and soft.

Attila -

Interesting photo. Looks like the weather contributed to a very monotoned image of this bird. A little Curves adjustment might be in order to tone down the highlights.
Good job getting the shot in adverse conditions!

Attila,

Good job but it appears a little over exposed. As Paul mentioned maybe a little curves or levels.

Attila,

I know how you feel. I just had a similar experience with a Red-necked Phalarope the other day. My bird is so small in that photo that only I know its a bird, but I also know what bird :D and that's what matters.

Interesting monochrome image. The leg color stands out from the rest of the shot. Unusual to get a Phalarope walking through the water, I have not seen this very often.

From the look of things, ISO 800 was needed, so a happy accident!

I like the blurred foot showing motion. The rest of the image looks appropriately sharp to me, and I like the high key effect. I have not seen this species and am viewing on my (rather dark) office monitor) so can't say much about exposure but it looks OK to me here.
