Hello NatureScapes

In May, I had a chance to travel to Florida and one morning I ran into Artie on the beach at Fort Desota. He told me about a least tern colony on Lido Key in Sarasota, which was right where I happened to be staying for a meeting.

At the time, there were some birds on eggs, and many still engaged in courtship feeding. I have full birds with fish in the frame on many images. Although the tail is missing, I liked this one because of the close up detail in the fish.

Thanks for looking and any comments or suggestions.

Nice shot Dennis, That fish looks like he is saying something that wouldn't look good in print!

Like the detail and that you can see both eyes. Looks like the bird was showing off his trophy for the camera! Great catch!

Great shot Dennis.

The close up of the fish makes this work. The light is wonderful too.

Awesome detail here Dennis - you can even see the scales on the fish. Excellent shot.

Great one, Dennis. Wonderful detail. What puts it over the top is the small catchlight in the fish's eye  .

Had you included the entire bird, the detail in the fish would be lost. Great choice to zero in on the action. Sharpness really powers this one.

Nice catch here! I love the fish and the proud look of the tern. A tad lower vantage point would have been nice but still excellent.

Great catch Dennis. I like the capture like others to keep the detail in the fish. It certainly doesn't look to be a very happy minnow thats for sure!

I absolutely love seeing a close-up like this that shows the detail of the beak and eye(s) so well.
