This was taken in May at Wakodahatchee Wetlands, FL. in full bright sunlight.

I do not think you can teach one individual to see as another, nor would I really want to, but I believe you can certainly teach one to recognize the individual components, the key ingredients that make an image successful. Moreover, mastering the technical side of photography provides freedom, expanding the possibilities and allowing you to see outside the box.

1D, 500mm IS w/ 1.4
exposue - sunny f/16 (no comp), as the image contained both extreme highlights and shadows splitting the difference was the best option. I did try a few with flash, but the eye and feather sheen looked unnatural.

Best and shoot the light,

Chas

Chas,
This is the best in an impossible situation. Nice pose. Not your usual standard, but is shows what is possible in near impossible conditions which in itself is inspiring.

Very nice, Chas. An excellent exercise in keeping bith the whites and blacks under control in Sunny-f16 conditions.

Great image! I notice a series of triangles in it that makes for an interesting composition.

Hey Paul, good eye! How many triangles can you find within this image?

Best,

Chas

Interesting angle and well presented as usual. The lack of eye contact leaves me lacking though.

Having been there at the same time I know how hard it was to come up with subjects to shoot given the lighting. I like that you were able to make something happen despite the challenging conditions - very inspiring. :)
