Since seeing all the images posted from those who just returned from AK has me salivating with anticipation for this year's upcoming visit, I thought I would post this head shot from last years Homer visit. This was taken as the eagle stood atop a dumpster in fading late afternoon light. While not a befitting visual for the National Symbol, the image taken cropped with a longer lens has sold on numerous occasions, serving as an icon of the strength, unity and freedom we have come to love.

It remains the cleanest eagle I have ever seen.

Best and see you in the field,

Very nice Eagle and very nice image. It is quite "clean" which is partially due to it being a true adult and simply not being a recently messy eater. :) I remember thinking I got a few "very clean" birds on this last trip, your image is going to make me look around and see if I have anything myself.

Good luck on your trip and I hope you get clear days then we did. :D

Wonderful body and head detail. Highly dignified view without needing the entire bird!

Wonderful eagle stare, Chas. Have fun in AK, don't get eaten by a bear, and Alex and I shall see you one weekend next month. Think shooting, pizza, and beer.

Very nice!

Must be a "tourist" bird! Or perhaps a bleached blonde. Virtually all of the head shots that I got feature less than fully mature birds or just plain dirty feathers.

Nice work...sounds like Sandy is contemplating a S-T-B workshop.

Dick, although Sandy and I might shoot together with Chas for a day or two in March, the reason for getting together has nothing to do with real birds, We have a job to do!!, There is a New Bordello opening up on the West Coast near Venice, and they need three cameras on site during opening night, We are still considering the payment options!!!, Sandy says they mentioned something like Flash, Trash or Honey!!!, we are still undecided on what to do

Chas, the bird looks a little like Abe Lincoln!!!

This could be a new production of the THREE AMIGOS, but probably more like the THREE STOOGES :P

BTW- we have yet to decide who is shooting what - top, middle or bottom

Best,

Chas
