The feasts of harvest are followed by the fasts of winter.

This was actually taken the day after the shot of me on the ladder in the EHK forum. The waxwings were feeding lower in the branches and I could stand closer to ground level.

Cropped horizontal to vertical - just about full frame top to bottom. A little PS work - I may have overcooked things a little, but the image was fairly contrasty to start with. Also, the head is a touch soft - but these guys were moving fast. The berry in the mouth keeps this out of the circular file for me.

cheers,
-matt

If there is softness in the head, it's in anyone who'd complain about this image. Well done.

Perfectly sized mouth for berries!!

Image:
Wonderful bird, great detail, nice exposure and pose, mouth open with fruit is a plus, golden leaves are wonderful as well, Would only clone the upper corner leaf and the dangling berry below the bird, Otherwise just wonderful!!! Congrats!! 8)

Beautiful colors and detail. One of the nicest CWW photos I've seen. My only nit is the crab apple dangling from his rump, easy to clone out!

Matt, I love the silky smooth textures of this waxwing. Very nice shot.

Fine shot, Matt. It looks sharp throughout to me. I'd clone out the leaf hanging from the left upper corner.

Great shot I would just take Sandy's suggestion with the leaf. Absolutely beautiful and elegant.

Very nice environmental shot. The one thing that bugs me is that the eye is a bit soft. Looks like the focus point was just in front of the bird.

Beautiful shot!
I agree with the others about cloning the leaf and the berry.
