Taken yesterday on Amherst Island, Ontario. We came to photograph owls. No owls, except one Snowy, very far, barely visible, but we were lucky to photograph these extremly shy beautiful birds.

This is so good it's sick. A Snow Bunting on Snow...Outstanding. I would be tempted to clone out some of the dirt on the snow.

FANTASTIC! Beautiful shot, you handled the snow and bird exposure very well here! What a gorgeous bird, this is a shot I'm going to remember for a while.

Fero

You had a similar experience to what Steve Roman and I had yesterday. we went looking for a Snowy Owl that was about 45 minutes west of Minneapolis, MN. No owl seen, but a large flock of Snow Buntings were close to the road. I can apprecite this image since of the shots I got one or two were marginal at best.

You did really well with the whites in this image and the blue sky for the background is great. Well done.

Regards,

Terry

Killer bird and composition !!

Image:
Excellent composition and exposure, very nice detail, cloning the dirt away is a must for such a fine image, great light and lumpy snow to seal the package!! Congrats!!! 8)

Thanks for your words, they mean a lot to me ...

Terance, I know, they are difficult to aproach. Try to throw some seeds on the road while they are watching you. They will come and stick around. It is not easy for them to find food in the winter, I guess. That's how we did it, and we were able to shoot them from very close.

I found the dirt on the snow realistic and not distracting, but I think I can try to clean it and see the difference.

BTW, the thumbnails are awesome. But I think it was more exciting before, when I didn't know what to expect when I click on a link, something like with waiting for slide development. I even liked slow loading through my dial-up connection, sometimes. :-)))

Nice image Fero, the perch compliments the bird. Still looking for these around here this year.

Awesome shot! I see them around here in flocks of several hundred sometimes, but getting in close enough for a photo is just about impossible! Well done. :D

cheers, Oliver
