This photo was taken last year at Long Boat Key, Florida. Several of them were circling above me. The 100-400mm was almost to much lens. It's nice when they cooperate :)

I like the soft "feel" to this - the soft colors, the soft light. The composition seems to work and I like how both wings are visible in flight. Normally I like to see the head parallel with the film plane, but in this case I think it works turned away - makes me wonder what the bird is looking at. Some people catching minnows to fish with, perhaps? :)

Thanks Heather,

I'm not sure what they were looking at, maybe a school of fish, no one else was around me. It was kind of like taking pictures of a merry-go-round. I just snapped shots as they came around me :D

Really nice shot, Chris. I too like the soft, painterly feel of the image. Wait to see what you'll do with a 300 2.8

A nice look at this guy. In an ideal world the head would be turned a bit more your way and there would be a little more room at the top. Otherwise it's very nice. I love white birds in soft light.

Great flight shot Chris. I like the overall exposure particularly the underside of the wings. Very nicely done.
