Double Crested Cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritus)

As not to get monotonous with the portraits, I, present to you the final installment of the series, later on, if anything interesting comes my way, others will be posted as well, for now this is the final image of the series!!
This bird is a winter resident at Anhinga trail, His crest's are just starting to grow back for the nesting season, and he was just standing underneath the low rail, and sitting below on the rail's shadow; Sekonic read 1/500 SS at f/8-ISO-200 as incident!!, Since the bird was in the shadows of the rail, I, selected f/7.1 to compensate a little, and -0.3EV on camera for any water drops on the bird, and I let the flash (SB-800) do the rest without any compensation, Lens=70-200mm afs-VR f/2.8 + 1.4X, FL=280mm, Raw!!
Any comments and or reposts are always welcome!!!

Well done, Alex. The curve of the neck makes for good composition. The jeweled eye is always a cormorant's most exciting feature.

As usual, Alex, very well done. That eye sure jumps out at you. I like the composition, too.

Alex:

Very artistic: How two well saturated colors: Yellow and turquoise compliment each other with the different gradations of grey and with the muted background.

Beautiful! Lovely colors, great background, SUPER detail in the dark plumage. I was told once that if I was going to photograph an ordinary subject that it had to be an out-of-the-ordinary photo to work. I'd say with everything right on like this, you've met this goal for sure. :)

Another beauty to add to your portraits. Just enough sheen to give excellent details.....and an eye this is as magical as any I've seen. I imagine he will be quite popular when the nesting season gets underway.

Alex, you must bribe these birds, then provide the perfect coif, makeup, studio lighting and colored contact lenses. Right? Wonderful result.
