KILLER. Please tell me you have the pins taped on the converter because if you manually focused this I give up!

Yep. Pins are taped. It will auto focus, but very Sloooowly! I usualy use the 6.5 meter setting on the 100-400 so it won't have as far to search. This speeds it up a little bit. Trying to get flight shots with the converter on is very hard, but once in a while I get one. You should see all the great shots I have that are completely OOF.

Jim:

Awsome picture, very powerful look. May want to give a little Gauss blur to the background to make the bird subjectively sharper.

WOW. Great shot. I am really impressed you got this with the equipment mentioned as I know from my own experience how hard that is. Way to go.

Well done -- i've tried flight shots with the 1.4 taped and a 100-400mm but never had results like this.

Fantastic flight shot; I'm amazed at the clarity and detail with the 1.4x attached.

I rarely us it with my 100-400 as I have trouble focusing; maybe I should tape the pins again :?

Hey Jim, You are killing me... Image made with a TC with a lens that reputedly does not focus! Keep it up. Best and love, Artie
