Photographed at Rietvlei dam nature reserve. This chap was trying his best to impress the lady. These birds has a whole sequence of courting, of which this display of his nicely shaped body is the last. He preens himself and then does a fly pass with his tail curled downwards and underneath his body. He then comes in for a stately landing and spreads his wings in this manner.

This is a beautiful shot Geurt. I might like it a little more if the branch on the left against his wing weren't there. However, this is exposed perfectly and I like the composition. It's refreshing to see a species that I have not seen posted before.

Beautifully composed image of a Red-winged Blackbird on steroids. The birds's position and the vegetation are wonderful. There are some nasty looking artifacts around the bird, however.

Beautiful composition! I like the way the bill and the red patches just pop right out and grab your attention. The position of the bird is really cool. The colorful vegitation adds alot. Very nice image!

Quite a regal pic! I find this very interesting and elegant. Nice work with the exposure and in catching the peak of the action!
