Roseate Spoonbills, Merritt Island NWR

D1x, 600f4, horizontal frame cropped from sides.

A few days ago I was tracking the flying spoonbill and was quite surprised when this bird started calling and the feeding spoonbill abruptly lifted its head for this mid-air greeting. This did not appear to be aggressive behavior as these birds paired up while feeding and later departed together.

In the repost I applied USM until the facial features became clearer. I have never sharpened an image this much so I hope this helps (I have been using an USM formula recommended by one of the moderators for web postings). Thanks for the comments.

Jerry, the incredible action that you caught here makes up for the softness. Well done.

Nice catch! If there is any possible way to pull more sharpness out of this, I would try it. The behaviour you captured is wonderful, as is the composition (with a little off the top).

Great timing, a tad soft and lovely colors, wish I could see the complete lower bird, but then again I wish I had hair in my balding head!!!
Congrats!! 8)
