Hi Folks.. Well this past summer has been a blast for us and we have spent as many hours as possible out on the land. One of the special treats that we have had was the easy assessable location of a Pacific Loon family. In the time spent we were able to observe the comings and goings of the adults and the newly born chicks as posted here.

I thought about cloning out the shade form the chick at one time but changed my mind

Patiently waiting and watching was the key?worth ever one of the mosquitoe bites. The Loons and other birds have pretty well gotten the urge to move south now but the summer is full of memories like this one.

Thanks for looking.

Oooo. I love this. The aquamarine water color, the tiny chick with the bright eye, and the overall "tone" of the image. It's not exactly standard fare and that has great appeal to me in some images. This is one of them. 8)

What a treat to see this sight! A beatiful little chick and the mother supervises it.

Sweet shot, Doug. The side-lighting works well for me. Did you use fill?

It could easily just be me, but I'd rotate the image CW about 5°. The colors are great - they set off the loons very well. Light was really working with you despite coming from the side.

This is superb! I really must visit northern Canada some spring/summer and get some loon shots. The shots i've seen lately from you, and Greg and Heather are just mind boggling. Great capture.

The coloration...and moment element here are great. Pretty nice soft lighting as well and you took time to capture it all at a great angle
