 This is excellent. The pose, framing, open bill and the purple flowers all come together to make an exceptional image. My only nit is that I wasn't there to shot him too

This is a wonderful image! The open bill and the flowers are great. Who needs a tripod? (besides me)

The flowers take this to the next level. An excellent shot - I'd try to extract a bit more black detail if possible.

The plover is excellent especially with the open bill. However, the added touch of color with the flowers is what sets this one off. Excellent job....especially with no tripod.

Could've stopped with this and had a successful trip! Wonderful all around, from the open beak to the touch of tundra.

Heather,

Certainly the best of this bird I've seen. Perfect soft light (perfect for a bird with blacks and whites, at least), action, setting, it's got everything. I'm quite covetous of this shot, actually.

I really love how the FG is in focus and the DoF drops off immediately behind the bird. The purple flowers add a nice color accent to this excellent image.

A little touch of saturation and curves and the purples in this jump off the page. I really like this chief.

Neat shot! I would like to call this my OWN, but sigh . . . Love the setting and the difficulty of exposing this bird. Might reduce brightness a couple points first to bring out the black while maintaining detail.
