Hi Folks,

Here's a longfin lionfish hunting at night. Taken at Balicasag Island in the Philippines with a Canon EOS A2e in a Subal CE5 housing, EF 50f2.5 macro, 1/60th, F8 Kodak 100VS with dual Sea & Sea YS120 strobes set to TTL for light.

Very cool - the fish and the sea bottom look great here. In a perfect world, there would be a little more separation between the fish and the bottom but its very nice as is.

Hi E.J.

I do have another shot of the fish that's more separated, but it's been posted on other forums before and I thought I'd post a new one. Not sure what the rules would be to posting that as it's not technically a repost?

The other image is much better though 8)

This is pretty cool Stu. I am always amazed at the beautiful colors under the water! I am amazed at underwater photography in general since it is so out of my realm. Look forward to seeing the other version of this that you mentioned.

It's amazing how much color there is down there on the ocean floor when you get light to it. Overall I like this, mainly due to the color and the overall composition- the fish is nicely balanced by the negative space. I'd like to see the other version too!

This is neat. I recently went shooting UW for the first time and gained a whole new appreciation for the difficulty of shots like this. (Actually thought mine was the first UW shot on the forum... till I saw yours... rats... but mine's a macro :) ) I'll watch for your others, and I'll be studying them.

Awesome shot of my absolute favorite tropical fish. Lionfish are absolutely stunning and this photo is wonderful. I love the variety of colors of the coral below it as well.

Not knowing the first thing about UW, I think what I see here is fascinating. would like to see more emphasis on the fish so I'm guessing a greater aperture would help there. At the same time, all the sea floor flowers are just as fascinating as the fish!
