My first post here in the Flora and Fauna gallery is of my favorite little furry subjects, a fox kit. After discovering the dens late last year, it was much easier to track these guys this spring. This was taken a few weeks after they appeared from their dens.

Once again at Bombay Hook NWR, taken in May this year. Full Frame. Nikon D100, Nikon 28-70 f2.8 w/1.4 xt set at 130mm, f5.6, 1/125 sec., spot meter.

Brett,

Perfect title and nice shot. These guys are really hard to locate. Once you do they are still hard to shot. good work.

Nice job to get the eyes clear through the shrubs and framed by the green. Looks like he's just peeking out of the den. Might stand just a little more USM.

Brett,
The head is a bit soft but the uniqueness of the shot permits me to look past that. Perhaps additional USM would help.

Thanks for all the comments. The original image is actually tack sharp, I'm not sure why this posted version looks so soft. I may need to adjust my workflow for posting here. The image also looks a little de-saturated here as well. I'm posting another fox image today and will try to adjust the saturation and sharpness on the next try.
